Championship Tournament and NeJST BASH

Shaker Bowl has a new manager who wanted $3.40/game lineage instead of the $2/game we'd negotiated with the previous manager. I told him to take a flying leap.
Chicopee Bowl was interested but has a NEBA tournament scheduled for that weekend. NEBA can't change (I asked)...so
In trying to stay centrally located, at least for this first year, we're holding the year end events at South Windsor Ten-Pin, S. Windsor, CT. They are guaranteeing a sport shot and whole house, if needed, for the week-end.

We're having 2 tourneys...
1. The Championship Tournament is for the bowlers who have entered seven or more of our 22 events this season. The Scholarship Fund for this tournament consists of Sponsor Donations, a portion of all entry fees during the season, and a portion of all entry fees for the Championship itself. I'm estimating it will be somewhere around $7,500. Entry fee for Collegiate Boys, Girls, and Major & Junior Boys is $65; for Junior Girls and Prep Boys/Girls is $42.

2. The NeJST BASH is open to any junior bowler who has NEVER bowled for a cash prize. The prize fund for this tournament is comprised 100% from that portion of their entry fee allocated to Scholarship. Based on 50 entries, that would be $1,750. Entry fee: $80. Bowlers in Championship Tournament may also enter this tournament by paying $40 (entry fee less lineage) as their scores would count for both events.

Info and flyers and entry forms are now posted on the message board. I hope the format will satisfy most of you. I don't intend to change it....unless someone finds some monumentous blunder in there....I look forward to your feedback.

Hoe Bowl Mardi Bob Results

We just wrapped up our 12th and most successful tournament of the year at Hoe Bowl Mardi-Bob lanes in Poughkeepsie, NY. We had the largest turnout of the year, 55 bowlers who competed in five separate age divisions.

Collegiate Kyle Shivers, Red Hook, NY led all bowlers with his 1395 qualifying score for six games that was highlighted with his incredible 259 triplicate over the first three games. He went on to take home top honors in the collegiate division defeating Adam Paradis, Norwich, CT in the championship match. Anthony Valentine, New Milford, CT placed third.

Caitlin McCaw, W. Hartford, CT got the best of Alley Kiesman, Attleboro, MA in the Girls title match, a very familiar match-up as they met each other in match play for the third time out of the past three tournaments. Leigh Pratt, Troy, NY received the bronze medal.

The Major Boys Division
saw enough entries to bring eight bowlers into the step-ladder. This was the the second time in as many tournaments that a division has been large enough to advance additional bowlers to the finals. Hometown bowler Jonathan Deuire, Kingston, NY took home first place out of the 24 bowlers as he averaged 222 on the day. Josh Magisano, Hoosick Falls, NY was 2nd. In his first tournament with us, Artie Mays, Middletown, NY was 3rd.

Beacon, NY’s Peter Good felt right at home as he climbed the ladder en route to winning the Junior Boys title over fellow Matt Nelson of Wappingers Falls, NY. Awarded the bronze medal was Jeff Werner of Kingston, NY.

Rebecca Pratt, Troy, NY bowled over all of the Prep Division competition averaging 184 on the day and taking home first place. Taylor LeClair, Athens, NY was 2nd. Corrado Marone, Poughkeepsie, NY 3rd.

The next tournament will be held Super Bowl Sunday at South Windsor Ten-Pin in South Windsor, CT. It will be our last tournament for qualifying for this year’s Jr. Gold National Championship Tournament.
