We're off to a Great Start

Our second season is off to a great start. Our first event, on a sport condition , September 10th at AMF Chicopee Lanes, Chicopee, MA saw 52 entrants from all the states in the Northeast and New Jersey. Divisional step-ladder results were as follows:

Collegiate Boys: Stephen Hardy Jr. (NH) defeated Randy Hagemoser (RI) 174-151, then Jim Bosse (CT) def Stephen Hardy 219-138, then Chris Page (RI) in a 9th & 10th frame roll-off after a 181-181 tie, Danny Khuu (MA) def Jim Bosse 214-209 to garner the gold medal.

Girls: Brittany Garcia (NH) def Alley Kiesman (MA) 160-156, then Stephanie Howard (CT) 205-161, then Amie Tomblin (NH) 222-154. Leigh Pratt (NY) stopped Brittany’s climb up the ladder with a 181-167 win for the gold medal.

Junior Boys: Darrin Borges (MA) def Justin Avylla (MA) 178-157, Nick Jensen (CT) def Borges 191-157, Chris Colella (MA) def Jensen 163-138 and Ryan Ventillo (NY) 172-171 for the division win.

Junior Girls: Brittany Reid (CT) def Carly Cross (NY) 136-112 and Jessica Evans (MA) 92-88 to be defeated by Ashley Reid 116-128 for the gold.

Major Boys: With 20 in the division 8 qualified for the finals. Tim Steward (NY), Akeem Campbell (CT), Ryan Evans (MA), and Alex Weglarz (NY) rolled a one game match with the winner to advance to meet 4th place qualifier Michael Ventillo (NY). Ryan def Ventillo 186-156. Dave Rice (VT) then def Evans 156-154, Shane Reid (CT) 185-140, and Greg Andrews (MA) 254-192 for 1st place.

Prep Division was won by Tommy Tkacz (CT) with Vernon Billington (CT) placing 2nd.

The Junior Gold qualifier saw Shane Reid  and Leigh Pratt winning their spots in the Jr. Gold National Championship next July in Buffalo, NY.

The second tournament, September 17th at Lores Lanes, New Milford, CT presented the bowlers with a 38 foot flat oil pattern.

Medalists were as follows:
Collegiate Boys: Gold – Jim Bosse (CT), Silver – Danny Khuu (MA), Bronze – Tony Bennett (MA)
Girls: Gold – Chrissy Johnson (CT), Silver – Leigh Pratt (NY), Bronze – Stephanie Howard (CT)
Jr. Boys: Gold – Chris Colella (MA), Silver – Kevin Ryan (CT), Bronze – Nick Jensen (CT)
Jr. Girls: Gold – Kamariah Jackman (CT), Silver – Liz Pratt (NY), Bronze – Rebecca Pratt (NY)
Major Boys: Gold – Shane Reid (CT), Silver – Jeremy Lavoie (CT), Bronze – Lou DiGirolamo (NJ)
Preps: Gold – Tommy Tkacz (CT), Silver – Vernon Billington (CT)

In the Jr. Gold qualifier Ali Dihmes (CT) advances to the national tournament.

Our next tournament will be October 1st at Langs Lanes, Cranston, RI at 1PM. It is also scheduled to be a sport condition.

MVP & BOWLER OF YEAR AWARDS

I have received a sponsorship committment for year end scholarship awards - Divisional Most Valuable Player (MVP) and an overall Bowler of the Year.

Points will be awarded as follows: (unless I change my mind in a day or two)
1. Each participant will receive 10 points for entering a tournament.
2. Points will be awarded based on the bowlers position at the end of qualifying.
For Divisions with 5 to 14 entries: 1st - 10, 2nd - 7, 3rd - 5, 4th - 3, and 5th - 2.
For Divisions with 15 to 25 entries: 1st - 20, 2nd - 16, 3rd - 13, 4th - 10, 5th - 7, 6th - 5, 7th - 3, and 8th - 2.
For Divisions with more than 25: 1st - 28, 2nd - 24, 3rd - 20, 4th - 16, 5th - 13, 6th - 10, 7th - 7, 8th - 5, 9th - 3, and 10th - 2.

3. Points will be awarded based on the the bowler's final position finish as follows:

1st - 50, 2nd - 40, 3rd - 35, 4th - 30, 5th - 25, 6th - 24, 7th - 23 on down to 24th - 6

4. Every 10th tournament entered will be worth double points.

The Collegiate Boys, Girls, Major Boys, and Junior Boys Divisions MVP awards will be $125 for 1st, $75 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd.

Junior Girls and Prep Divisions winners will receive $100.

The bowler with the most points overall, regardless of division, will be awarded the Bowler of the Year Award and $300.
