Championship Tournament

Our first Championship Tournament will be held the last week-end in June, 2006, at Shaker Bowl, 168 Shaker Rd, East Longmeadow, MA. 413-525-7198. Owned by Bowl New England, it is a 28 lane house with synthetic heads and wood back ends.

Shaker is relatively central to our entire area and, as far as I know, is not "home" to any of our bowlers so at the moment is "neutral territory".

Several of you have already qualified for this tournament. To compete for our scholarship money a bowler must enter at least seven of our 22 tournaments. The March 5th event is the last a bowler may begin bowling with us and still be able to qualify for this year's Championship.

Some Current Statistics

We've now finished 9 of our 22 tournaments. The last event at Town Line Ten-Pin, Malden, MA had the largest field this season - 52 bowlers. Again every state in our northeast region was represented. To date:

Those who braved the snowy conditions found a tough lane condition at Laurel Lanes in Plainville, CT. This past Sunday 27 bowlers averaged 167.53 during qualifying. 20 200 games were rolled in qualifying. Four bowlers went plus with Tony Bennett, Worcester MA, the highest qualifier with 1260.

Step-ladder finals saw another 10 200 games - Tony Bennett won the Collegiate Division with a nice 265 to finish ahead of Dan "P.I.A." Quesnell, Kingston, NY. The Girls Division final match was close with Caitlin McCaw, W. Hartford, CT, edging out Alexandra Kiesman, Attleboro, MA, for the win 230-228. Joey Baral, S. Windsor, CT, in his first appearance with us this season, triumphed over Jimmy Stenson, Kingston, NY, 201-177 for the Major Boys Division Gold. Stephen Rogers, Poughkeepsie, NY, held on to the Junior Boys Division first place despite the valiant effort of Robbie Baral who had run the ladder from 5th place to challenge him.

Ashley Reid and Brittany Reid, both of Enfield, CT, won Golds in the Junior Girls and Prep Divisions, respectively.

Alexandra Kiesman and Jimmy Stenson qualified for the Jr Gold Championship in July.

We now have our first qualifiers for our Championship Tournament to held the last weekend in June. Having attended seven events are: Ashley Reid (Jr Girls), Shane Reid (Major Boys), and Kyle Shivers (Collegiate Boys).
